Wedding Ceremonies

It's your wedding, your way

A humanist wedding can be small and intimate or a large, elaborate celebration.  The choice is yours!

There are no rules, no ties to any traditions and this flexibility allows you to focus on your story.

Working with you, I will write a bespoke ceremony, telling your story and deliver that ceremony on your special day with warmth, more than a little humour and complete professionalism.

I will spend time getting to know you so that on the day, I can tell the story of your relationship in an authentic and meaningful way.

If you’d rather have a Best Woman than a Best Man, or one of each, just say the word. Do you want to involve your pets or children in the ceremony somehow? No problem.

It can include your own unique vows, readings, poems, music, and any rituals you choose, such as handfasting, symbolic knot-tying, or lighting a unity candle.

If you’d like to create your own, original ritual, go right ahead.

You’re in control. It’s your wedding, your way.

How does it work?

You may have been searching for a wedding celebrant in Swansea or you may be new to the idea of having a celebrant to conduct your bespoke wedding ceremony for you. Perhaps you are wondering how this works in comparison to the usual wedding routes you’ve looked into.

Let’s take a peek at how a typical lead up to a humanist wedding ceremony timeline looks, so that you can get a feel of how this type of celebration can be truly bespoke to you and your needs.

My Process

I try to keep my process as uncomplicated as possible so that we can really concentrate on what you want for your ceremony. A typical ceremony preparation timeline looks like that shown below.

1. Initial Meeting

Free no obligation initial meeting – usually a phone or video call to explore what your ceremony could look like.

2. Booking

After our initial meeting, if you’d like to go ahead, you can book your day – knowing your ceremony is in safe hands.

3. Planning Meeting

Usually a face to face meeting (2-3 hours) where I get to know more about you. You tell me your story; how you met, your relationship, your views on love and marriage. We’ll talk about your ideas for your ceremony including music, readings, personal vows, how to involve your family and friends in the ceremony, the exchange of your wedding rings and other symbolic rituals, like handfasting.  If you don’t know where to start, no problem.  Having worked on wedding ceremonies for the last 20 years, I have the experience to help you create the perfect ceremony.

4. Preparation

I will write your bespoke wedding script with words that are as special and unique as you are.

5. Checks

I will send you the draft ceremony for your comments and any amendments.

6. On The Day

I’ll deliver your bespoke ceremony and will co-ordinate all those special people involved with your day, bridesmaids, best man, readers and other contributors.

7. Finally

I’ll leave you with a presentation script for you to keep and treasure for ever.

How much does it cost?

Your love is one-of-a-kind, and so should your wedding ceremony be. Let’s make it truly special.

For creation and delivery of a bespoke ceremony, my fee for 2023 is £650.

For 2024, the fee will remain at £650 if your ceremony is booked before December 2023.  Ceremonies booked after that time will be £700.

If you live in, and your ceremony is in the County of Swansea, mileage is included. For any meetings and for ceremonies outside of Swansea, mileage will be charged at 45 pence per mile.

Margaret led the most wonderful and moving ceremony, tailor made for us, in the nicest possible way! We cannot recommend her highly enough!
