About Margaret

With over 20 years experience conducting ceremonies with the Registration Service, you and your ceremony will be in safe hands.

Margaret,
the Gower Celebrant

I love a wedding!  I love meeting people, hearing their stories.

I worked as a celebrant and registrar at Swansea Council for over 20 years, conducting ceremonies.  It was great, but I always felt I could offer more to couples.  I wanted to give them the time to make their ceremonies more personal, to allow them to have a wedding in a place that was important to them with a bespoke script, telling their story.

I am now a celebrant accredited to Humanists UK, so I can create a ceremony for you that is as unique and special as you are. I chose to be trained by Humanists UK as they offer a 5 star, comprehensive training programme, offer full support nationally and locally and ensure all celebrants keep up with their own personal development every year.

I have lived on Gower with my husband Martin for 22 years. I love walking, bird and wildlife watching and am often seen on the beaches and hills of Gower with my spaniel Pippin.

I joined Humanist UK about 7 years ago, having first come across the concept at my mother’s funeral a few years before. Having taken the ‘Are you a Humanist?’ quiz on the Humanist UK website, I realised that’s what I had been for most of my adult life. Why not take a look here.

As a Humanist celebrant, I am committed to helping you create a personal, meaningful wedding that tells your story in a way that no other kind of wedding ceremony can.

Margaret is a real star and her warm, flexible way of listening, suggesting and organising meant that we arrived at the perfect wedding for us and our families. She has a very friendly, light touch with a good sense of humour and from the off I just knew our ceremony was in safe hands.

How does it work?

You may have been searching for a wedding celebrant in Swansea or you may be new to the idea of having a celebrant to conduct your bespoke wedding ceremony for you. Perhaps you are wondering how this works in comparison to the usual wedding routes you’ve looked into.

Let’s take a peek at how a typical lead up to a humanist wedding ceremony timeline looks, so that you can get a feel of how this type of celebration can be truly bespoke to you and your needs.

About Humanism

Humanists UK sum up humanists as people who shape their own lives in the here and now, people who believe it’s the only life we have.

We make sense of the world through logic, reason, and evidence, and always seek to treat those around us with warmth, understanding, and respect.
